The Weigh of the Cross
He suffered the Way of the Cross,
As He tread on Calvary's road;
Because of grace's loss,
He carried our heavy load.
The Cross He bore, bit to the bone,
Its weight upon His shoulder;
The weigh of the Cross, heavy like stone,
Like a chunk of glacial boulder,
A rock that ice had left...
Its burden Christ did heft.
Lo, the cumbrous wood
Of the cross that stood.
O think how much He had to bear,
As He carried it to Golgotha there. |
